Consists of efforts on:

  • Specialized technical assistance
  • Individual and group training
  • Information, cooperation, and support services

A basic characteristic that has remained through time is the development of research activities together with technology transfer by the technical personnel of the department.

The extension and transfer activities are developed through known extension methods:


Lectures, seminars, courses, field tours, and technical tours.


Visit the farm, office assistance, and phone assistance.

Currently, group methods are used more often because they have the advantage of reaching a large number of users. On the contrary, farm visits are done only when the farmer requests it or if there is a special situation considered by the technician.

The department has support, cooperation and information program for the benefit of the national sugarcane sector, which issues publications, articles, newsletters, memos, collaborations, and meetings.
