At LAICA we created a nation-wide information campaign for the whole sugarcane sector in which we inform sugarcane producers and their value chain about child and adolescent labor, and we explain the negative impacts this has on childhood. We also offer lectures about national laws regarding this topic in every region of the country.
Furthermore, the institution is a member of the Network of Companies against Child Labor in Costa Rica, a forum that works with the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Ministry of Work and Social Security (MTSS, for its an acronym in Spanish), and other companies to eradicate these practices in the country.
