At LAICA we work to improve the quality of life of our collaborators, providing tools to eradicate extreme poverty in the affected families.
The progress begins with a complete diagnosis of the social-economic situation of the families of each collaborator so we can identify the social initiatives we can use to help them.
Since 2011, LAICA is a member of the Alliance of Companies without Extreme Poverty, led by AED, joining efforts with many organizations to decrease this national problem.
1. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Every year at LAICA we recognize the academic effort of our collaborators’ kids with an economic bonus for the start of the school year so we can make sure money does not generate school desertion.
2. FINANCIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Through an alliance with Bac San José, we offer Financial Education to every LAICA collaborator and their families. The training gives them tools to plan the family budget and teaches them healthy financial practices that include savings, decreasing debts, medium and long term goals, and investments. This way not only are we fighting extreme poverty, but we are also preventing it from happening in other families.

3. IF THERE’S ENOUGH FOR TWO, THERE’S ENOUGH FOR THREE
This social program grants food aid to collaborators who are in a complex or emergency economic situation, according to a previous social-economic analysis.
The economic fund that supports the program is donated, in equal shares, by the collaborators and LAICA each month.
4. LAICA IN THE CLASSROOMS
This is a school supply donation program for the children of our collaborators with highest social-economical vulnerability that can put at risk the permanence of the children in the classrooms.
